The new year brings lots of new events, like small gatherings with close friends and family. Why not help make each event memorable, by cooking up lots of tasty treats to share with them.

What a fun and successful event it would be, if they all headed home still raving about your food at the end of the night.

That’s why I’ve put together a list of the best party foods that are sure to please any crowd…

#1 Potato Skins

Potato skins are great for parties because they are so easy to make, so easy to customize and so very delicious. Simply bake a bunch of potatoes until the flesh is tender and the skin is crisp. Then, cut in half and scoop out the flesh. Once you have done this, you can mix the flesh with anything your guests would like from sour cream and bacon to ham and cheese or maybe even guacamole and sun-dried tomatoes for the veggies. They’re a slice of carby heaven and your guests will love them.

#2 Butterscotch Cake

No party would be complete without a cake! The best butterscotch cake recipe I have ever found is super easy and extremely tasty. Plus, you will see that whipping one up is a lot simpler than you might think. Light and fluffy, while also being rich and satisfying, this cake is simple, elegant, and sure to delight everyone from the smallest child to the fussiest adult. You can add it to your permanent recipe box, because future dessert making will be a whole lot easier.

#3 Meatballs

Meatballs are THE perfect party food. They are bite-sized balls of deliciousness that you can tailor to the tastes of your guests by switching up the herbs and spices you use. Italian herbs and parmesan cheese are both good flavoring options. By offering a wide range of dips from marinara sauce to Thai Peanut sauce, you’ll have your guests licking their fingers off! Just make sure you cook plenty, because they’ll be gone faster than you can put them out.

#4 Sausage Rolls

Sausage rolls are an English delicacy and they are OH SO simple to make. Simply season sausage meat with your choice of herbs and spices, add plenty of salt and pepper, roll it into a long sausage shape, and then wrap in puff pastry (store-bought is fine). Place it in the oven until the sausage meat is cooked through and the pastry is golden. As a final measure, be sure to cut the roll into bitesize pieces and serve with a selection of dips.

#5 Brownies

When you’re catering for a lot of people, brownies are a good choice of a sweet treat because you can find hundreds of recipes with very little effort at all. And who doesn’t like a gooey, sticky chocolatey treat? Make them even more special by serving them with a homemade whipped cream and berries, or keep it simple and serve them warm with a cool scoop of vanilla ice cream.

The Takeaway

Prepping for a party with tasty food doesn’t have to feel like a chore or a major stress event. By picking party food like the ones above, you’ll be setting yourself up to host a super successful party for friends and family.
