I can’t tell you how much I hate shopping for dresses. Every year, around Valentine’s Day, I find myself trying to find that perfect combination of “sexy and cute” in any dress. And every year, I yell at the mirror for showing me what I already know… the mom bod is tough to dress.
It takes me a long time to shop for myself and that’s because my body is not what it used to be, pre-kids. I always end up needing to find dresses that cover the tummy, accentuates my curves, and hides all of the bulky body parts. Plus, I like finding affordable pieces.
The mall is my kryptonite. I walk in, sniff the expensive air, and then walk out. Immediately after that, I hop onto Amazon. This is where I find the best dresses that I can wear for more than just a birthday or Valentine’s Day celebration.
That’s why I’m writing this article… to help all the moms out there who hate shopping for themselves as much as I do.
And to start, I’m sharing a few truths. All moms have three things in common when it comes to shopping for ourselves: (1) we like to wear nice clothes at an affordable price, (2) we prefer to shop as simply and as quickly as possible without stress, and (3) we like to wear pieces that make us look and feel good.
But shopping for ourselves tends to take a backseat to the kiddos and when we do get to do it, we end up having meltdowns. Mainly because what we are trying on isn’t the right fit for our body types.
Now, I’m going to share with you, the best advice I ever received post baby #4. Dress for your current size and body type. Of course, at the time, I had no idea what that meant until I took this quiz. Once I took it, I learned the exact styles I needed to be looking for. And oh boy, did it deliver!
