How to Honeymoon in Seville

Considered to be the most romantic city in Spain, it’s no surprise that Seville makes one of the very best honeymoon destinations.

Packed with intimate experiences and beautiful landmarks, Seville is small enough to be explored in as little as 2-3 days – meaning that you can enjoy spending time together in your hotel without worrying that you’ll run out of time to see everything in this beautiful city.

From couples’ spa experiences and canal rowing to intimate music venues, Seville really does have it all when it comes to planning your first holiday as a married couple.

In this post, we’re going to look at some of the most popular things to do as well as 3 beautiful experiences that will take you away from the beaten tourist track.

And if you’re not sure where exactly each amazing spot is, then be sure to check out the map that our fantastic partner Wanderlog, was kind enough to map out for you.

Flamenco

Seville is famous for its variety of flamenco shows. Flamenco is not only a form of dance and singing but an expression of the soul – which is what makes it so seductive! Visit El Palacio Andaluz for an intimate performance in a small venue to avoid the crowds of tourists.

The Plaza de Espana

Built for the Universal Exposition in 1929, this impressive landmark is not to be missed during your trip to Seville. Though a popular tourist spot, it is one of the most breathtaking places to visit during your honeymoon to Seville. Take a slow walk through the grounds as well as the adjacent park and you’ll feel like you’re on a movie set.

You can also hire rowing boats for a romantic paddle around the canal inside the square.

The Alcazar of Seville

The Alcazar of Seville is not only home to grand decor and lush greenery just waiting to be marveled at, but it’s also home to Game of Thrones’ ‘Gardens of Dorne’. This medieval fortress is best visited out of the tourist season as you might otherwise find yourself waiting in a very long queue. After visiting the Alcazar, you’re in the perfect spot for a quick photo of or tour inside the neighboring gothic cathedral – one of Seville’s most famous places.

Catedral de Sevilla

This UNESCO world heritage site is a must-see during your honeymoon in Seville. Seville is home to one of the grandest interiors of any cathedral in Spain. This cathedral is adorned with Gothic carvings, statues, and treasures. The Giralda – a minaret – reaches into the heavens and stands at 93 meters tall. If you’re feeling up to it, you and your love can climb the minaret for an unbeatable view of the city.

Eat out

Being in Spain, you’ll never find yourself at a loss for restaurants from which to enjoy the local cuisine. Seville has a wonderful choice of streetside tapas bars as well as high-end restaurants serving beautifully prepared international cuisine.

Santa Cruz

An incredibly charming corner of Seville, Santa Cruz was the Jewish quarter of the city during medieval times. A walk through these narrow streets will have you dreaming of owning your own apartment in the area. You could spend your entire trip exploring the labyrinth of streets here and never fail to find something new. From ceramics shops and plat-filled balconies to cafes with outdoor terraces, this might be one of the most romantic places in the world, let alone Spain.

Top 3 Unknown Spots

It’s no secret that the most beautiful honeymoon destinations quickly become overrun with people all looking to take in the same sights and experience the most popular activities. Which is why we’ve included 3 of the top unknown spots to visit in Seville…

Your honeymoon is about you and your partner spending quality time together, not standing in queues and waiting to get a picture of the most famous sights – which is why we’ve included this extra list!

1.   Triana

If you’re looking for the romance of Santa Cruz, away from the tourists, just take a short walk across the bridge and you’ll find yourself in Triana. Triana has a very strong identity, with some of those who live there considering themselves to live outside of Seville. A trip here will earn you two honeymoon destinations in one!

In Triana, you’ll be spoiled for choice by their market stalls, choice of tapas bars, and workshops selling handmade ceramics. An intoxicating place to visit during your trip to Seville, this is a wonderful spot to enjoy a romantic Spanish honeymoon without the crowds often found in Seville.

2.   Live music on the Alameda

The Alameda is famous for its nightlife and therefore loved by students in the area. But what this place also has to offer is the opportunity to listen to live music without having to squeeze yourself into a busy flamenco event. As well as live music, you’ll also find lots of bars, restaurants, and hangout spots that are popular with the locals.

3.   Aire de Sevilla

AIRE Sevilla is home to the ancient Arab baths of Santa Cruz and is the perfect place to spend some time as newlyweds on your honeymoon. This palace takes you through a luxurious journey igniting the senses and giving you and your partner a space to be with each other away from the busy city. In Aire de Sevilla you can experience a wine bath, thermal pools, and couples massages from within an incredibly romantic and intimate setting.

The Honeymoon Takeaway

Seville is at the very top of our list when it comes to just about any kind of holiday! But as a couple, this city does have something very special to offer. Make sure that you leave enough time to visit some of the most popular spots as well as spending some of your honeymoon in the lesser-known places.
