It’s hard to believe that our mothers have been around for as long as they have. It feels like it was just yesterday when we were being pushed in a stroller or when we were learning to walk and talk. The time has flown by, and before we know it, our mothers will be celebrating another birthday! 1: Plan the party around her schedule:
If your mother is a busy woman, chances are she doesn’t have a lot of free time to celebrate her birthday. So, it’s important to plan the party around her schedule. This means finding out what her schedule is so you can find the right time to spring a birthday party on her.
Depending on your mother’s lifestyle, the best time to surprise your mother with a birthday party is usually in the later parts of the evening or on the weekends, when she’s least likely to be working.
If you can’t find a time that works for both of you, try surprising her with breakfast in bed or dinner at her favorite restaurant.
2: Birthday gifts:
What’s a birthday party without presents? If you want to make sure your mother has the best day ever, then you need to get her something she really wants. Don’t just stop at the store to get her a birthday card. A surprise birthday party for your mom deserves a surprise gift that will wow her!

A big part of throwing a surprise party is making sure that only the people who are supposed to know about it actually do.
To do this, you’ll need to make a guest list and send out invitations accordingly. Be sure to only invite people who you know won’t spill the beans about the party. And also, only invite the special people in her life. You wouldn’t want total strangers she doesn’t know to show up at the party. That could make her feel awkward.
Don’t forget to ask each person to RSVP directly to you, via text or email, so that you can be sure everyone is on the same page and she doesn’t find out about her surprise birthday party.
5. Set up decorations:
Once you have your guest list and snacks taken care of, it’s time to start thinking about decorations. If you’re working with a tight budget, you can always DIY some of the decorations. You can do this by using some of the old decorations that your mom most certainly has boxed up somewhere. Or you can ask friends and family to pitch in their left over decorations, too.
But if you want to go all out, there are plenty of places where you can buy pre-made party supplies. You can even have a party planner put together an entire list of decorations and have their team set it all up for you.
Just be sure to choose a party theme that you know your mother will love. After all, this is her special day! Some great themes include her favorite flower, color, or even her favorite TV show or movie.
