Most of us go through periods of time when we lose our style confidence. We question whether pieces we used to love still suit us, we struggle with a lack of inspiration or suddenly feel like nothing looks good on our bodies anymore. If these scenarios sound familiar, you’ve come to the right place!

But instead of stressing over your disappointment with style, you need a guide to get you back to feeling amazing! Here are some simple steps you can take to ensure you look and feel incredible.

Get to know your body

One of the most brilliant and beautiful things about the human race is that every single person has a different body. We come in a huge range of shapes and sizes. While some people are happy with their size and shape, others lack confidence. One of the most important steps to take if you do feel self-conscious about your body is to get to know it better.

Once you understand your body shape and how proportions and styling work, you can focus on finding outfits or items of clothing that supercharge your confidence. Enhance your best features and use tricks and tactics to draw attention away from the areas you’re not so confident about.

Look for inspiration from people who have a similar body type or those who are the same height. Many people who are taller or shorter than average find it hard to put outfits together. Search for blogs and articles that discuss and celebrate tall girl topics or follow petite influencers on social media. Body shape and size can also impact confidence. If you’re conscious about being very slim and having no curves, or you’re plus size or mid-size, for example, follow accounts that champion your shape and get ideas for different looks.

Experiment

Be honest. How often do you go into a store or browse online and mutter under your breath that something won’t suit you? Most of us are guilty of writing clothing off before we’ve even tried it on. It’s very difficult to get an idea of what something will look like on you without putting it on. There’s also no way of knowing how it will make you feel. You may be surprised at how you feel when you look in the mirror if you’re willing to be daring and experiment with different styles and trends. It can be refreshing and exciting to get out of your comfort zone and there’s no harm in trying new things. If you order an outfit and try it on at home and you don’t like it, all you have to do is return it.

Know and wear your size

Every body is different, and knowing your size is super important in finding clothes that fit right. In order to this correctly, you first need to let go of the ideal size you believe you should fit into. Instead, focus on how the clothes fit, whether they’re too tight, too loose, or hang on your curves just right.

Additionally, don’t focus on the number size you end up falling in love with. As every brand of clothing is made differently, there is no universal size. So, perhaps you’re a size 4 in American Eagle but you may be a size 8 in Ambercrombie & Fitch. The point is that you shouldn’t be afraid to choose different sizes than what you’re normally used to wearing because you could be surprised as to how a different size might fit better.

Focus on how you feel

Some people are very confident when it comes to expressing themselves and showing off their personal style, but it can be hard not to get bogged down in popular trends and what other people think. We are often heavily influenced by celebrities, fashion brands and magazines, and we worry about what friends, family members and people we don’t even know think about what we’re wearing. It’s great to take inspiration and get ideas from others but try to focus on how you feel. If you don’t feel comfortable, you don’t have to buy or wear something just because it’s in fashion or your friends like that style. Buy clothes that make you feel great, inside and out.

The Takeaway

Most of us go through stages where we experience a crisis of confidence. If you’re looking to boost your style confidence, follow these tips to look and feel amazing. Get to know your body, celebrate your favorite parts, experiment with different looks and focus on how you feel rather than worrying about what others think.
